A seafront view is one of the many romanticized visions of luxury. Amidst a backdrop of sparkling water and the soothing sounds of waves crashing against the coast is a sight that would calm most hearts. It is for this reason that seaside properties are much coveted and extremely suited for luxury homes.

Along the once quiet and tranquil north-eastern coastline of Penang, just to the north of Gurney Drive, Seri Tanjung Pinang is an unprecedented masterplanned seafront development in the island’s history. Built entirely on reclaimed land, Penang’s new ‘Millionaire’s Row’ showcases a variety of luxury residential enclaves and vibrant retail promenades.‍‍‍

First phase of the development, which has reclaimed 240 acres of land from the sea, brings to life the concept of a world-class waterfront lifestyle. Property types on offer include majestic sea-facing villas, terrace houses, semi-Ds, luxury condos, and holiday apartments.

Neighbourhood retail outlets are found in Straits Quay, where shops, boutiques, and restaurants fronted are spread over a 12.4-acre retail enclave fronted by an intimate pleasure marina. Outlets doing business here include bistros and bars, antique shops and art galleries, seafood restaurants and seaside cafes, as well as the island’s first dedicated performing arts centre.

Sitting on 1,000 acres of reclaimed land, the two-phase Seri Tanjung Pinang seafront development transforms the north-eastern coast of Penang Island into spectacular township.

As Phase 1 nears its completion, the Seri Tanjung Pinang development kicks off the even more ambitious Phase 2, which will be a 760-acre mini island of its own across the waters to the east of the first phase.

According to its developers, the proposed concept masterplan of Seri Tanjung Pinang Phase 2 (STP2) features components such as new waterfront promenade areas, park and ride facilities, leisure and cultural facilities, a waterfront square lined with F&B outlets as well as a network of green spaces. ‍‍‍

An international marina and yacht club are expected to augment the waterfront lifestyle proposition of STP2. Public amenities such as schools, places of worship, police and fire station, and other infrastructure facilities are also provided for in the concept masterplan.

It is envisaged that STP2 will consist of a series of neighbourhoods which create a sustainable community for the full cross-section of Penang’s society, with approximately 12,000 new homes for all income groups, including affordable homes. The first housing project launch of STP2 is targeted for the second half of 2018.
